AIR FORCE ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS

High School Scholarship Program

High School students can compete for the High School Scholarship Program (HSSP) as seniors. This scholarship pays 100% of tuition and authorized fees at the student's future institution. Cadets on scholarship receive a $900 annual textbook allowance. They also receive a monthly stipend ($350 as a freshman, increasing $50 per month each year up to $500 per month as a senior). Access the link above to reach the AFROTC main page for details on application and eligibility requirements.

General Charles McGee Leadership Award

The General Charles McGee Leadership Award (CMLA) is awarded to all cadets who have completed Field Training following their sophomore year and are on-track to graduate and commission. This award is $18,000 per year for two years for tuition, which amounts to a full-ride for those years at University of Minnesota Duluth or University of Wisconsin-Superior. This award can be converted to a $10,000 per year housing scholarship for on-campus housing. Cadets receiving the CMLA also receive a $900 annual textbook allowance and $450 and $500 monthly stipend in their junior and senior year, respectively.

In-College Scholarship Program

The In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP) is competitive and awarded based on merit, with active cadets having their first opportunity to compete with their peers across the country at the end of their freshman year. These scholarships are available based on needs of the Air Force and are dependent on the annual budgets that fund them. They may or may not be offered each year.

Consideration for All Scholarships

By accepting any of the scholarships mentioned above, cadets "contract" with the Air Force. This involves swearing an oath of enlistment and committing to serving their 4-year active duty service commitment upon graduation. Cadets do not serve as enlisted members of the Air Force or Space Force while they are cadets, but this serves as the contract guaranteeing that they will adhere to program guidelines and complete the required years of service in return for the Department of the Air Force funding their education from that point through graduation.
